Healthy Sweet Potato Chips Recipe 2023

Coach Smith

sweet potato chips

I like sweet potatoes but generally don’t like recipes that add other sweet ingredients like honey, maple syrup, sugar, etc. I think sweet potatoes are “sweet” enough on their own. And, I prefer a crispy texture when cooking with sweet potatoes.  That’s why I decided to make these healthy sweet potato chips.

Sweet potatoes have plenty of health benefits. They’re a good source of vitamins B, C, and D. And, they’re high in potassium and antioxidants. They do contain more carbohydrates than most vegetables, but they’re carbs of the healthy variety.

For this sweet potato chips recipe, I just added a bit of salt and a couple other seasonings (thyme and paprika). I burnt mine a bit the first time I cooked them, so make sure you watch them the last few minutes of cooking.

Ingredients

  • 1 large sweet potato
  • 1 T olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika

Instructions

Slice sweet potatoes into thin “chips”. Or, use a mandoline slicer. Mix the cut up pieces in a large bowl with the olive oil, pepper, and salt. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread the sweet potatoes evenly on a baking sheet or roasting pan, and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the pan, flip the sweet potatoes, add the thyme and paprika, and cook for an additional 8-10 minutes.
